What Can We Do?

Israel is at war. Early in the morning on Shabbat Simchat Torah, October 7th, Hamas terrorists from Gaza infiltrated into Israel and carried out the most savage slaughter imaginable of Israeli civilians, children, babies, soldiers, police.

Israel has been striking targets in Gaza and troops are massing at the border, preparing to enter the strip at any moment. Meanwhile, much of the world has reacted with outrage — at Israel's response.

So "What can we do?" That's the question that American Jews — and so many other good people who are not Jews — have been asking all week.

We must not cower or quail or cringe. Each of us must do our part in this: the defining moral struggle of our times...
