But since the extreme violence that Hamas visited upon Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023, the silence from the international human rights community has been deafening. As I discussed on Rosh Hashanah — it took a mere two weeks for much of the Western world to move past and brush off the worst day for Jews since the Holocaust — and the existential context of the ongoing war...
Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy is an expert in international law, gender, and human rights. She is the founder and head of the Dvora Institute for Gender and Sustainability Studies, which established Israel's Civil Commission on October 7th Crimes Against Women and Children to document the sexual and gender-based violence of that horrible day. During the course of her work — for which she was awarded the 2024 Israel Prize — Dr. Elkayam-Levy coined the novel term "kinocide" to describe the systematic targeting and abuse of families and the weaponization of familial bonds — uniquely evil crimes that Hamas terrorists have perpetrated against Israeli families.
I asked Dr. Elkayam-Levy to join me on the podcast to help us understand the extent of our enemy's calculated brutality — and why the international community abandoned Israel in its darkest hour.
I hope you'll tune in to hear this important conversation wherever you get your podcasts.
