Jonathan Freedland is one of The Guardian's most prominent columnists, as well as an incredible and prolific writer. He's penned nine novels — thrillers — under the name Sam Bourne. And under his own name, he's written a play and four works of nonfiction. His latest is: “The Traitors Circle: The True Story of a Secret Resistance Network in Nazi Germany—and the Spy Who Betrayed Them," which just came out at the end of October.
It's nearly 400 pages long — but I couldn't put it down. The book is written almost like a "whodunit," but there's a deeper mystery — one that gets at the heart of the human spirit: what inspires people toward great acts of goodness?
